Published in the Sac de Chips section of the Journal de Montréal, Simone Fortin’s article playfully covers all of the reasons why young female graduates should attend their prom without a date. According to her, hanging out with your girlfriends is always more fun than having to entertain a plus-one. The piece showcased elegant prom dresses, among them, a few styles from the Laura & Melanie Lyne collections.
The journalist, who also writes for the Quebec-based blog Billie, picked a few dresses to support a list of clichés she used to make her point. The endearing campaign photos, shot in California, are what young dreams are made of.
It’s with a touch of humour that the author speaks to the benefits of going to prom solo. She mentions how fun it is to dance whenever the mood strikes you without having to check in with anyone, how being free to spend all the time you want at the buffet is beneficial, and how not having to match your dress to your date’s outfit makes life much easier.
In Simone Fortin’s opinion, if you choose to be accompanied by your girlfriends and a Laura or Melanie Lyne dress, you are saving yourself from a whole lot of the drama. Leaving more time to focus on looking fantastic, having a blast and making memories that will last a lifetime.
