A manager for the Laura store in the Champlain Mall, located in Montreal, Linda puts her well-being, and the well-being of her clients, first. She will speak to us about what motivated her to join the world of retail and adopt a vegan lifestyle.

Hi Linda, to start, why did you want to work for Laura Canada?
My primary objective for joining the Laura family was to reach certain personal and professional goals I set for myself. Laura Canada really supports their employees and pushes them constantly to strive for the best. I felt that I could evolve (and keep evolving) as a manager within the company.
Tell us a bit about your role as a store manager.
My role consists primarily of providing our clients with a unique and memorable experience when they visit our location. In addition, I manage the other employees and ensure the smooth running of the store and of the merchandising. It is like running my own little enterprise!
What do you enjoy about your job?
There is nothing that I don’t like about my job, but what gives me the most pleasure is the relationship I get to cultivate with the clients. Many of our clients are comfortable enough to share their personal stories – including their struggles – which gives us privileged access into their lives and thoughts.
How would you describe the field of retail?
I think everyone should experience working in retail. It is really rewarding, both for yourself and for the people you serve every day, and you learn a lot through your interactions. I am really passionate about what I do and I’m not alone!
You recently became vegan. What pushed you to adopt this lifestyle?
To put it simply, I chose to become a vegan for my health. If we want to live a long and healthy life, it is important that we take care of ourselves so that we can continue to help the people around us.
What do you do to stay healthy and in shape?
I practice yoga at least three times per week. I also enjoy hiking in the mountains and I take a spinning class once a week. This allows me to maintain a certain balance and to keep cool-headed no matter the situation.
Finally, how do you make the connection between your new way of life and your work? Has your approach to clients changed?
Now that I pay more attention to my needs, I try to benefit the clients by giving them little health tips when the opportunity arises. After all, Laura’s mission is to make women feel good about themselves!
