June 16, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. – Every year our hard working HR department organizes an employee picnic to kick off a beautiful thing called – “summer hours” (Laura likes to treat its employees to Friday afternoons off, from June to September). What a great way to recognize hard work and show appreciation!
Usually, the lunch takes place at our cheerful outdoor lunch area. Unfortunately, this year the weather didn’t hold up, so last minute everything was reorganized and moved to the warehouse.
First order of business: devouring the wonderful Montreal smoked meat sandwiches from Snowdon Deli. The delectable leaning towers-of-meat took shape right in front of our very eyes – topped with just the right amount of mustard.
Mmmm…need I say more?
Once the meal was over, and everyone’s tummy was full, we moved on to team building activities – each team, wearing their own colour to showcase solidarity, had to complete a series of games – from company trivia to designing & creating a dress completely out of toilet paper. The HR team refereed the event, attributing points to deserving teams – the gloves were off and everyone’s competitive edge was showing – all in good fun of course!
May the best team win!
Let’s not forget the tropical-inspired photo booth complete with wacky props. Say cheese! Smiles all around, celebrating the arrival of warmer weather and the fuzzy feeling of vacation season fast approaching.
Laughter & good food – the perfect recipe for happy employees. Once the event winded down and the winners were rewarded for their tenacity and dedication, everyone went their separate ways to take in their first bit of Friday afternoon freedom.
