December 19 marked a first for Laura Canada, as head office employees gathered to attend a make-up master class. About 30 lucky team members from various divisions were invited to participate in a beauty session with Marie-Pier Durand, a seasoned expert in the field, who offered insight on skin care and the art of make-up application.

The event took place during the company’s lunch hour, in a large conference room that was transformed into a make-up studio. Attendees were treated to a delicious lunch, as they watched Durand’s demonstration of how to complement one’s features – mainly eye shape and complexion – using the right utensils and techniques.

Durand, whose resume includes SSENSE and CoverGirl, began the session by explaining which brushes to use for different parts of the face. She went on to demonstrate how to create a smoky eye for daytime by calling upon a volunteer from the crowd. She chose a second volunteer for her presentation on how to camouflage skin redness. The session ended with a quick question period.
Just as participants were about to leave and resume their regular workday, the event’s organizers surprised four employees with gifts from Sephora – make-up kits to help them practice some of the tips they learned during the session. As for the rest of the attendees? The expert advice they received was more than enough to satisfy their beauty needs, until the next session, that is.
